Successful Management of Acute Heavy Menstrual Bleeding with Foley’s Catheter of a Patient under Combined Antiplatelet Therapy for Cardiac Disease: A Case Report
AbstractHeavy menstrual bleeding(HMB) is one of the most common gynecological problems defined as a menstrual blood loss of 80 ml or higher. Here we described a case of a patient who applied with acute heavy uterine bleeding under anticoagulant therapy. Although the final management plan was hysterectomy as a definitive treatment for this patient, a silicone Foley catheter was used as an emergency treatment for active massive uterine bleeding. The report demonstrates that intrauterine balloon tamponade can be used for the patient with acute heavy uterine bleeding as a temporary rescue treatment modality.
